Dr. Lawrence Fox was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society at Hofstra University where he graduated magna cum laude with honors in physics. He then received his medical degree from the State University of New York- Downstate Medical Center in 1983. Following his internship in Internal Medicine, he completed an Ophthalmology residency and served as Chief Resident at the Nassau County Medical Center on Long Island in 1987.

Dr. Lawrence Fox joined the staff of the Central New York Eye Center, Poughkeepsie, NY in 1987 and became medical director of the center in 2000. Dr. Fox has performed thousands of microsurgical eye procedures and is one of the most experienced eye surgeons in the region. He has been performing excimer laser vision correction since 1998. Dr. Fox specializes in cataract surgery and refractive surgery and has received extensive training in Lasik and PRK. Dr. Fox also specializes in ReSTOR and Crystalens implantation.

In addition to being board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology Dr. Lawrence Fox is certified by the American Board of Eye Surgery, an organization devoted to maintaining the highest quality of surgical eye care, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Fox belongs to several professional organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American College of Eye Surgeons, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, International Society of Refractive Surgery, New York State Ophthalmological Society, American Medical Association, and the Dutchess County Medical Society. Dr. Fox is a member of the advisory board of the Poughkeepsie chapter of the Lighthouse International. He has also served as the Chairman of the Division of Ophthalmology at Saint Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY.
